I'd like to know more about the Double 8 format.

Can a Double 8 camera be used with a Super-8 film?

no you cant, it uses standard 16 mm film, that runs through the camera twice, and is then split down the middle by the lab when they develop it.
The sprocket holes in Super8 film are closer together and slightly smaller
